The DIOP Top, made of 100% cotton, is the origin of our company, and in some ways our flagship product. It is inspired by the custom clothes our co-founder Mapate’s mother would make for him. With prints and patterns inspired by the African diaspora, our clothes are made to be dressed up and down. DIOP is proud to offer truly one-of-a-kind garments made to stand out from the crowd.

This pattern is inspired by Bogolanfini (or mud cloth), a handmade Malian cotton fabric dyed with fermented mud that dates back to the 12th century. Down to the traditional color pattern, this black and white design is one of our most popular for a reason. Beyond being timeless, the symmetry of its markings give it a near-seamless look that has found its place as a staple in countless closets.

When it comes to styling this piece, it works with absolutely any color, though you can really take your outfit to the next level by focusing on adding a third complementary color to the mix. Its versatility makes it a great layering piece, and there is an inherent beauty to its simplicity. From gold or brass accessories to a colorful sneaker, the sky is truly the limit with this design.
